50 Foot Wave

50 Foot Wave

There are all these great songs available for free at Cash Music- Kristin Hersh's website. You can get all the FFW songs, KH's new solo songs, and the new Throwing Muses demo "Sunray Venus".

You've got to check out the 50 Foot Wave records. You can get their debut EP 50 Foot Wave, their full-length album Golden Ocean, their second EP Free Music, and their newest release, the half hour Power + Light.

It's all their for free. You can play it right off the page or download all of it to your computer. In addition to LP and 3 EPs there are instrumental tracks, plus their cover of "Somebody to Love" and the 50 Foot Wave version of KH's "Your Ghost".

Check it out, you'll love it (start with Golden Ocean- that's my favorite).

New direction

RJ Battles

Over the past month I've come across a lot of record sleeves that I've always wanted to see, for example, the inside of the Feed The Tree CD and the back cover of the Super-connected CD. I've made RJ Battles into the kind of website that I used to look around for and the kind of place where I'd like to look around for a while.

RJ Battles has become a kind of continuation of the 4AD eyesore database. Eyesore is a website where you can look up all the 4AD artists and see the front covers of all their abums, singles, and EPs, along with some promo posters. Here I've tried to add some extras: Japanese imports, alternate covers, and inside and back cover artwork.

Along the way I've done some music, movie, and TV reviews, and I think, now that I've shown most of the album artwork that I like I'm going to focus more on movie and music reviews. I'm not able to do funny reviews like Final Girl does so I'm not going to even try, but I do have a point of view so I'm going to share it.

Anyway, there's a lot to look forward to here at RJ Battles. There will still be a lot of record sleeve art (I'm always looking); there's going to be a lot more of everything. Thank you for coming here and I hope to see you in the future.

Thank you, RJ Battles

I think this is a painting

"When Doves Cry" b/w "17 Days"

I don't want to write about Diamond and Pearls (the last good Prince album) but I wanted to use the hologram, so here it is.

I'd rather talk about When Doves Cry, the first Prince record I ever bought. The cover is cool, but I like the back better. Plus, a section of that flower picture is used for the record label. Her are a couple diferent versions (the one I have has the pointy lettering).

Also, "17 Days" is one of my favorite B-sides.

NEW Throwing Muses demo

Sunray Venus (2010) Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses demo)

You can hear Kristin Hersh's demo of Sunray Venus, which is set to be a new Throwing Muses song. You can also hear some of her new solo songs- check out "Gin" and "Opiates"- they're the best.

"Last Splash" the Breeders

Last Splash (1993) the Breeders

Even though it had "Cannonball", everyone says that Last Splash sucks compared to Pod, even Artie on The Larry Sanders Show said it. But it's not really that bad; it's still got "Do You Love Me Now?" and "Drivin On 9". Plus there's the album cover and the inside artwork.
